The fifth and last book to be named finalist for the IPOD award is none other than

Now, a note on my selections. The process was very hard because of the quality of the books that I have found through my blog. For example, Undercover White Trash, an excellent novel, begged to be included, as did others such as Futureproof and Homefront. IM, Entrekin, and The Father were also strong. The process of selection is not perfect, and only five books can be chosen as finalists, making the enterprise difficult. I would like to thank everyone who submitted a book to the blog and all the readers who have read the blog regularly.
The winner will be announced sometime at the end of this week.

International Print on Demand Book Award
2007 is nearly at an end and this means that the time to award the International Print on Demand Book Award is nearing. In December, the best POD book will be announced. This book will be one of five finalists that will be announced sometime in mid November. The following books below are in the process, and you can check out the reviews by clicking on the links. Some books that I will review next month may land on this pile, so this is not the final list. The prize will consist of "an IPOD Award Seal, or a an IPOD Finalist Award Seal, which shall consist of a .jpeg image, to place on book cover of their books." So, if you're the winner or one of the five finalists, you can print a new edition of your book with the seal graphic on your cover! It's just like the Pulitzer, really.

International Print on Demand Book Award runners for first quarter of 2007
June is almost over and this means that the first quarter is at an end. It's time to pick which books will be in the running for the International Print on Demand Book Award. I have gone over the books that have been reviewed in this blog over the past three months and picked what I feel are the strongest works so far. The results are below.
THE FATHER by Stephen Bruce. Joseph's experiences after the death of his son, Jesus.
FUTUREPROOF by N. Frank Daniels. The story of Luke as he tries to find a life in a troubled world that offers little hope.
THE HEART OF MARS by Chuck Rosenthal. A detective on the trail of a billion stolen fish.
ENTREKIN by Will Entrekin. A collection of short stories about loss, rejection, and altered perceptions.
PRAYER AT RUMAYLA Charles Sheehan Miles. Private Brown's odyssey in search of home and a place after his return from the Gulf.
NORTH OF SUNSET Henry Baum. Actor Michael Sennet's journey through the strange land that is Hollywood, from mega star to mega killer.
CHION by Darryl Sloan. Jamie Metcalfe's life turns in an unexpected direction when snow-like substance begins to fall from the sky, sticking to anything that touches it.

The first quarter
Slowly but surely the first quarter is approaching. This means that we will have to pick the runners for the International Print on Demand Book Award. I welcome suggestions and nominations in the next two weeks as to which books to pick, from all those that were reviewed in the last 3 months.
