PODler Book of the Month NOVEMBER

This month the strongest work reviewed was Richard Grayson's And to Think That He Kissed Him on Lorimer Street.

PODler Book of the Month OCTOBER

October was an interesting month in that I reviewed two books that were not submitted--Autumn and Undercover White Trash. Mind + Body was a submission that was, for a while, lost in the pile, but was found and reviewed. I liked all of these books, but my favorite by far is Undercover White Trash. Trash has a simple concept and plenty of conflict as the protagonist enters a world alien to him and emerges changed. Trash is definitely not trash.

PODler book of the month JULY

July saw a slew of interesting tiles. Rick R. Reed's chilling IM, Kristen Tsetsi's literary Homefront, Jeremy Robinson's incredible Antarktos Rising, and Brad Barber's The Martinet. It is always hard to make a choice because all these books have something to offer. But I think that the strongest of them all is Robinson's Antarktos Rising. It is a great mix of science, adventure, and Biblical apocalypse that is truly a great POD book--unique and thrilling.

PODler Book of the Month JUNE

Because the June book of the month was to be chosen by popular vote only, and because Entrekin has the most votes, Entrekin is the book of the month for June.

PODler Book of the Month MAY

May brought some very exciting books such as Prayer at Rumayla, The Father, The Heart of Mars, and Storyteller. All of these books are strong in some respect or another, but only one can be named book of the month.

I have had a hard time deciding, especially between The Father and Prayer at Rumayla: both are very strong human stories, which is what makes a good reading. In the end, I have chosen Prayer at Rumayla because it is a compelling and well-written human drama about a returning Gulf War veteran searching for closure and a new beginning.

PODler Book of the Month APRIL

Each month here at the PODler review blog we will pick one book that stands out especially among all others that were reviewed that month.

In April, we reviewed three particularly strong books, Chion by Darryl Sloan, North of Sunset by Henry Baum, and Lucius the Club by Michael Allan. It was a tough call because all the books are very strong. I chose Chion because of its high concept and human drama mix.

May looks to be very interesting as we have very strong contenders in Heart of Mars, A Prayer at Rumayla, The Father, and Storyteller. But the month is not yet at an end and who knows, maybe some entry that is yet to come will blow the others out of the water?
